The Lady Indians come out swinging on the defensive end and score their first 40th District win.

The Tribe dominated at home with an impressive 63-24 victory over 40th District foe, Bourbon County, improving their record to 3-1. The team showcased exceptional defensive intensity holding Bourbon to under 25 points in the win.

The first quarter set the tone as Elaine Purvis ignited the scoring with back-to-back three-pointers and perfect free-throw shooting, helping MoCo build an early 13-8 lead. After Bourbon briefly took a 2-0 advantage, MoCo responded immediately and never looked back. The second quarter belonged to both Purvis and Addison Terry, as they combined for explosive offensive production. Terry’s consecutive three-pointers helped extend the lead to a commanding 28-11 score at the half.

The Lady Indians continued their relentless attack in the third quarter, outscoring Bourbon County 24-6 and essentially putting the game on ice. Purvis reached 19 points with efficient 6-of-13 shooting and 3-of-8 from deep. Terry matched her teammates’ intensity, finishing with 17 points on a stellar 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-8 from long range. The duo’s chemistry and scoring ability proved to be unstoppable as MoCo stretched their advantage to 52-17 entering the final frame.

The fourth quarter provided valuable playing time for the entire roster, with players like Parker Anne Routt contributing 7 points (3-of-7 field goals) and Abigail Copher adding 4 points on perfect 2-of-2 shooting. Baylee Warner made her mark with 7 points including clutch 5-of-6 free throw shooting. The complete team effort and balanced scoring attack demonstrated the depth and talent that makes this squad special.

Tribe picks up win #2 in their home opener vs Fleming County.

The Montgomery County Lady Indians dominated at home against Fleming County, cruising to an impressive 68-49 victory improving their record to 2-1. The team showcased balanced scoring and strong team chemistry throughout the contest, never trailing after jumping out to an early lead. Three players reached double figures, led by Elaine Purvis’ game-high 19 points.

The game started perfectly for Moco, as Addison Terry and Elaine Purvis connected on early field goals to establish a 4-0 advantage. After Fleming County briefly closed the gap, back-to-back three-pointers from Terry and Raegan Mays sparked a 7-0 run that gave MoCo a commanding 12-5 lead. Purvis capped the strong first quarter with a three-pointer of her own, helping the team take a 15-11 advantage into the second period.

The second quarter belonged to Baylee Warner, who caught fire with an incredible scoring display. Warner dominated the paint with five consecutive field goals, including an impressive stretch where she scored six straight points to help extend the lead to 29-15. Her 11-point quarter, combined with solid contributions from Purvis and Terry, helped MoCo build a comfortable 37-27 halftime cushion despite Fleming County managing a 7-0 run late in the period.

The Tribe maintained control throughout the second half, with Terry connecting on a three-pointer to open the third quarter and Purvis adding another long-range shot to keep Fleming County at bay. The balanced attack continued into the fourth quarter with Purvis reaching 19 points on an efficient 7-of-18 shooting (including 3-of-7 from three-point range and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line), while both Terry and Warner finished with 16 points each. Warner was particularly dominant inside, shooting 7-of-14 from the field, and Terry showcased her versatility by hitting 7-of-13 shots overall. The victory was a complete team effort that demonstrated MoCo’s depth and offensive firepower.

Lady Indians drop a tough, one possession game to 15th Region champion, Johnson Central.

MoCO GBB fell just short in a thrilling neutral-site battle against 15th Region champion, Johnson Central, losing 69-67 in a game that showcased incredible grit and determination from the entire squad. Despite trailing by as many as 12 points in the third quarter, the team rallied with an inspiring fourth quarter comeback that brought them within two points of victory. The loss moves the Lady Indians to 1-1 on the season, but this competitive performance against a strong opponent demonstrates brighter days ahead.

The game started with Johnson Central jumping out to an early lead, building a 22-10 advantage after the first quarter behind hot three-point shooting (5 3FGM in the first quarter). However, MoCo began chipping away in the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 18-9 to cut the deficit to just three points at halftime, 31-28. The momentum briefly shifted early in the third when Elaine Purvis connected on a three-point play to give MoCo their first lead at 32-31, but Johnson Central responded with a devastating 12-0 run that pushed their advantage back to double digits.

The fourth quarter belonged to MoCo, with Baylee Warner and Elaine Purvis leading a furious comeback attempt. Warner finished with a team-high 18 points on 4-13 shooting, including a strong 9-12 performance from the free-throw line that kept the team in striking distance in the final quarter. Purvis matched her intensity with 17 points on 4-10 shooting, connecting on 2-3 three-pointers and providing clutch baskets when the team needed them most. Addison Terry and Sophie Fouch both contributed 9 points, while Parker Anne Routt added 7 points on an impressive 3-4 shooting.

MoCo’s incredible fourth-quarter surge saw them outscore Johnson Central and pull within two points multiple times, including a dramatic final sequence where they cut a six-point deficit to just two with seconds remaining. While the final didn’t end in the Tribe’s favor, the team showed tremendous character and a never-give-up attitude that will serve them well throughout the season. The balanced scoring attack and clutch free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter are excellent signs for future contests.

Next up is Fleming County in the team’s home opener on Tuesday at 7:30 PM.

Tribe takes down Bath County to start the 25-26 campaign.

MoCo GBB delivered a commanding 73-53 victory over Bath County in an impressive away game performance. The Lady Indians moved to 1-0 on the season. The team showcased excellent balanced scoring and strong shooting throughout all four quarters to secure a decisive 20-point win on the road.

The game began with MoCo establishing an immediate lead, racing out to a spectacular 10-0 lead behind early three-pointers from Addison Terry and contributions from multiple players. Terry and Baylee Warner led the charge in the first quarter, with Warner finishing the period as the top scorer with 10 points, helping MoCo take a comfortable 27-12 advantage. The second quarter belonged to Terry, who erupted for 11 points in the period, including multiple three-pointers that extended the lead to 40-29 at the half.

MoCo’s offensive firepower truly shined in the third quarter, outscoring Bath County 23-11 to take complete control of the game. Elaine Purvis stepped up with 9 points in the period, including a three-pointer and several field goals that helped stretch the lead to 63-40. Terry finished with a game-high 26 points on an efficient 7-13 three-point shooting, while Warner contributed 15 points on an outstanding 75% from the field. Purvis added 13 with solid all-around play.

The fourth quarter saw MoCo maintain their substantial lead while giving valuable playing time to their entire roster, including role players that made meaningful contributions. Raegan Mays chipped in 9 points with steady play throughout the game, and the team’s depth was on full display as multiple players scored in the final period. The victory highlighted the Tribe’s balanced attack, excellent shooting, and strong team chemistry as they begin their season in the win column.

Up next is a trip to Boyd County to play in the Roundball Classic against 15th Region champion, Johnson Central.

Lady Indians wrap up scrimmage play with a victory over LCA

MoCO GBB finished up their scrimmage play in spectacular fashion with a a dominant 51-29 victory over Lexington Christian Academy. The team showcased impressive depth and balanced scoring throughout the contest, never trailing as they built and maintained a commanding lead from the opening tip.

The game began with an explosive start as MoCo jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter, with four different players finding the scoreboard early. Raegan Mays opened the scoring with a designed field goal off of the tip, followed by contributions from Sophie Fouch, Elaine Purvis, and Baylee Warner. Addison Terry then took over, scoring 7 points in the quarter including a three-pointer to help establish a 15-5 advantage after one period. Terry’s hot shooting continued as she finished with a game-high 17 points on an efficient 7-12 shooting from the field.

The second quarter belonged to the well-rounded attack, as multiple players contributed to extend the lead to 25-13 at halftime. Baylee Warner emerged as a key contributor, showcasing perfect shooting throughout the game by going 3-3 from the field, 1-1 from three-point range, and a flawless 4-4 from the charity stripe to finish with 11 points. The third quarter saw LCA mount a brief 6-point scoring run, but MoCo responded immediately with strong play from Terry and solid contributions from Raegan Mays, who added 7 points on 3-5 shooting.

The final period demonstrated the team’s depth as multiple players saw action and contributed to the victory. PA Routt provided a spark with two three-pointers, finishing with 6 points while shooting 50% from beyond the arc. Despite LCA’s efforts to cut into the deficit, the Lady Indians maintained control throughout, with the role players getting some valuable experience in the closing minutes. The 22-point victory margin reflected the team’s balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.

The team will enjoy Thanksgiving this week and one more week of prep before heading to Owingsville on December 3rd to take on the Bath County Lady Cats to open up the 2025-2026 season.
